Ideally never! Although that should be enough time for the main healing part to be over. You should put sunblock on the tattoo whenever it is going to be near the sun for the rest of your life to keep tattoo at it’s best.
a tat usually takes about 2 weeks to heal, but you loose a layer of skin do to the healing and i wouldnt suggest sun tanning for a few weeks after that… the UV rays will cause your tat to fade especially if you use a bed. get your tat after the vacation, or holiday.
5 weeks should be long enough…..everybody heals differently tho. Just make sure it is well past the scabbing phase and that “shine” has gone away. You will want / need to put a high (30 or higher) SPF sun screen directly on ur tattoo when you are exposing it to the sun, and it should be healed before you do so…….if it is still scabby, don’t.
